Welcome to Poets’ Ink

We are a writer’s circle located in St. Albert, Alberta, Canada.  We have been gathering to write and read since the summer of 2002.  Originally there were two looking for the chance to share our work on a weekly basis.  We met in a neighbour pub where the bar staff chose the writing topics. We gave ourselves a limited time in which to write, providing an excellent challenge.  It is a practice which we continue today.  Our objective, at the end of a writing night, each writer will have three to four unfinished pieces to be taken home, worked on and brought back, then read to those attending the next meeting.

Over the first year, the core group grew to five and finally to six.  Today because of a death, job transfers, and busy lives, the coordinating group is three.

We have by design; no membership fees, therefore no membership (every writer is welcome to join us whenever they can), no executive board, no annual general meeting and finally no votes (but good ideas are welcome for discussion anytime except writing nights).  We’re careful about what we  undertake as projects since only three of us have any fiscal responsibility for Poets’ Ink.
